How it Works

    Step 1:
    Prior to Onsite Visit

  1. We'll offer zoom calls with principals, school safety teams, BOE, staff members, and other key personnel to provide an overview of the project and answer questions.
  2. Personally contact each principal to let them know what to expect and answer questions.
  3. Provide a brief and positive email/video describing the project for staff members.

    Step 2:
    Onsite Visit

  1. Don Shomette will spend a full day at each school
  2. Begin before staff arrival and stay through student dismissal
  3. Conduct a full vulnerability assessment using the 4 Threat Pillars
  4. Determine vulnerability to shootings, random and targeted violence
  5. Assess E‑SAT: Engagement, Supervision, Access Control, and Territorial Reinforcement
  6. Observe arrival, transitions, classroom time, lunch, and dismissal for gaps in safety
  7. Assess student and staff interactions to identify connection gaps
  8. Rate every classroom door, lock, and frame for protective quality
  9. Assess ability to quickly lockdown during all parts of the day
  10. Identify likely times, types, and locations of potential violence on campus
  11. Determine the quickest, most effective ways to embed prevention into daily routines
  12. Provide a full leadership debrief with clear strengths, priority concerns, and next steps

    Step 3:
    Create Safe & Loved Plan

  1. Delivered within 30 days after your onsite visit
  2. Written in plain, clear language that's easy to follow and implement
  3. Recommendations prioritized from most to least important so you know exactly where to start
  4. Analysis of mass shooting risk with steps to prevent and reduce it
  5. Identification of likely types, locations, and timing of violence, with strategies to address each
  6. Review of doors and locks with recommendations for improved lockdown protection
  7. Insights into staff-student connection with ways to reduce isolation
  8. Assessment of current lockdown capabilities with strategies to improve speed and reliability.
  9. Highlights of your school’s strengths with ways to build on them
  10. Simple, high-impact ways to embed safety into daily routines
  11. One-page Priority Action Plans with clear hinge tasks
  12. Step-by-step plan to make your school safe—and everyone feel loved

Fee

$14,750 for individual schools
